Core structure

Following the principles of "minimalist design, durability, and safety first," it consists of only three parts: a security chip, an NFC antenna, and a protective casing, without any unnecessary or easily damaged components. This is key to its ultra-long lifespan and resistance to extreme environments.

    The Samsung S3D232A security chip, manufactured using a 65nm process, achieves EAL6+ security certification, one of the highest certification standards for financial and passport-grade hardware. It features a built-in TRNG (True Random Number Generator) for offline private key generation, ensuring the private key is never exported. It boasts resistance to X-rays, electromagnetic pulses (EMP), and electrostatic discharge (ESD), preventing the loss or leakage of private keys even under extreme electromagnetic interference. The single-chip integrated design eliminates external circuitry, reducing potential failure points and guaranteeing a lifespan of over 25 years.

  • NFC Antenna

    Flexible NFC antenna, battery-free design. Powered by the phone's magnetic field for "tap-to-use" functionality, it features integrated dustproof and moisture-proof packaging for durability and stable, seamless connectivity. No battery means greater durability. The flexible antenna is embedded in the card, powered by the phone's NFC, and is resistant to bending and moisture, allowing for connection anytime, anywhere with a simple touch. It meets the IP69K dustproof and waterproof standard, allowing it to be fully submerged in 1 meter of water and withstand high-pressure water jets, while completely preventing dust ingress.       Why do I need a hardware wallet?

      The main benefit of a hardware crypto wallet is enhanced security, as private keys are stored offline, reducing the risk of hacking and malware. Another advantage is complete independence; you own your keys and can access your crypto anytime.

      What makes Tangem wallet different from other cold wallets?

      Your hardware wallet is always with you and doesn't need charging or wires. It fits easily in your pocket, so you can sign your transactions anywhere. Tangem's EAL6+ certification means it's as secure as a biometric passport.

      Does my hardware wallet depend on Tangem's servers?

      We designed your hardware wallet to be fully autonomous—no Tangem servers are involved in your crypto transactions. You need only your card/ring, smartphone, and the blockchain.

      If my Tangem is stolen, can a third party access my hardware wallet?

      No. An access code protects the wallet against unauthorized access by third parties and brute-force attacks.

      Can I use a seed phrase in the wallet?

      Using a seed phrase is optional. There are three key generation methods:
      1. Use the certified hardware True Random Number Generator (TRNG) that generates and stores keys inside the chip. No copies exist outside your Tangem device (recommended).
      2. Generate a seed phrase with the Tangem app and import it to the hardware device.
      3. Import your seed phrase from another crypto wallet.
      Note that seed phrases can be copied and stolen, unlike private keys generated offline.

      Will I lose access to my funds if my phone is lost or broken?

      You won't lose access to your funds. Use your card or ring on any compatible smartphone to download the Tangem app and access your portfolio. Remember, your phone doesn't store sensitive information; it’s just a display for easy access.
